Hello MX-5ers
I am thinking of planning a trip to the Pretoria Union Buildings.
Here we can have a braai and spend a day relaxing getting to know each other and our cars.
We would need at least 15 people to make the trip worth it (The more the better we will just need to organise tables and chairs, hence planning ahead of time). We can also meet somewhere before hand and drive down in convoy to the Union Buildings.
Any and all input is welcomed.

A little brief history of the Union Buildings.
Designed in 1908 by Sir Herbert Baker with construction starting in 1909 before being completed in 1913, it took nearly 1250 artisans, workman and labourers to complete the building in 3 years.
In 1994 the buildings were the scene of much jubilation as they played host to the inauguration of former President Nelson Mandela, South Africa's first democratically elected President.

There is a 9m tall bronze statue of former President Nelson Mandela in the gardens along with old war memorabilia, great for some photos.

Directions.
By car: Drive along Government Avenue, which takes you right up alongside the buildings, where you will find the car park area, public toilets, a small crafts market and great views of city.
By foot or by bus: Corner of Stanza Bopape (Old Church) & Wessels Street (Note that arriving in this way means you can only enter the public gardens through pedestrian gates which are situated along Church Street. Note also that it’s a bit of a walk across the lawns to get from here to the terraced gardens and there are many steps one must climb to reach the main level of Government Avenue, which is right alongside the buildings and is where the parking, craft markets, viewing spots and public toilets are located).
Gautrain bus stop called: Church & Wessels (in front of Sheraton Hotel on Church Street).
Opening times:
Public gardens and parking is open 7 days a week and from 05:00 to 23:00
