Spoke to KAR Performance this weekend. We came to the conclusion that a single fogger wet setup running about an extra 35-40wkw could be rather exciting... Roughly R10 000 fitted tuned and with necessary back ups in place to avoid making it go boom... Jumps it to 120wkw which should make it faster than my Megane... Best part being when you just want it to drive like a 100% stock MX-5 it does... Remove bottle and no extra power... Christmas Plan...

Thats a great idea But if not used correctly can be deadly Google MX-5 Electric Turbo Charger looks very interesting ... sadly very expensive If you could NOS do a proper heard and exhaust and a few other things ... serious power There is a 2.5l conversion available in America. Will post details once I have done all the research on the subject.

Will post details once I have done all the research on the subject. I've only started looking at options but what I enjoy about the MX-5 is that it has limited power. I could easily drop R50k in the engine bay and have a 200wkw MX-5 Turbo that outruns everything short of supercars but then it loses "Jinba ittai" Nitrous lets me have my fun when I want to and the rest of the time the car remains true to its intended purpose... It's perfectly safe providing you don't over do it... make sure to purge before you use it and manage bottle pressures correctly... Single fogger wet kit will manage your air fuel ratio with the factory ecu so that you don't get knock or detonation... forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=571553^^^ Nitrous Miata in that thread... Either way this will only be done for Christmas... Will look at other options as well till then but I really like the feel of the NA 2.0l

I hope to see loads of pics and be kept updated with this awesome project True what you say, it will be standard and have the extra kick when needed, how much does it cost to fill NOS bottles ? Is that R10k installed and 100% complete ?

I hope to see loads of pics and be kept updated with this awesome project True what you say, it will be standard and have the extra kick when needed, how much does it cost to fill NOS bottles ? Is that R10k installed and 100% complete ? R10k installed dyno'd, tested and fully functional... Less if you provide your own nitrous kit but then it's at your own risk too... Refill shouldn't be more than R500 at most but I'd be surprised if I get through a bottle in less than three months... Complete is a difficult requirement as you can always add more to your setup... Extra Solenoids for safety, more filters, external fuel cell, Colder Plugs, bottle warmer, remote functionality, direct port injection as opposed to single fogger to the intake and the list goes on an on... Personally I would want an adjustable RPM window switch and button activation with WOT sensor for extra safety built on a progressive system... So Nitrous will not engage unless : - In correct RPM window
- WOT ( Wide Open Throttle )
- Button is firmly pressed
Progressive setup allows slow build up of nitrous without one big kick like a turbo but you can choose when to use it...

That's pretty cheap for quite a lot of power gain! Have to admit I'd be very nervous making a change like that to mine. Would definitely be interested in seeing the results though

Would definitely be interested in seeing the results though Will do the whole write up once it's done but as I said before It'll be around Christmas... We can set up a drag race once it's done and see the difference with and without Nitrous...

Nothing wrong with a quick R5k.... I had Nitrous in my 1980 MK1 Golf spraying direct into the carb was not a big amount but made a nice difference... Could run with a BMW 325 at the time... As for being scared it's not a massive amount of nitrous... Will just make the acceleration quicker... More than welcome to sit shotgun once it's done...
